The Gods Themselves is a psychedelic dance rock group out of Seattle that spawned from the band Atomic Bride. Pink Noise is their sophomore album and it proves to be a strong one.

The Gods Themselves is made up of three members, Astra Elane, Collin O’Meara and Dustin Patterson. Elane and O’Meara played together in Atomic Bride and met Patterson while he was in The Connerys.

The band’s sound features a psychedelic twist on rock with hints of disco. The style is similar to The Flaming Lips, especially on songs like “Tangerines.”

The lyrics of the album are simple but powerful, like when Elane belts out “He better get lost. I’m gonna spike his drink with a Quaalude” between a captivating guitar riff and drum beat in “Pink Champagne.”

The album’s vocals switch between Patterson and Elane, while O’Meara is on the drums. Patterson also plays a baritone guitar and Elane an electric one.

The Gods Themselves successfully mix groovy disco beats and hateful rock vocals in Pink Noise.
