Wild Child sounds like a slightly edgy Sara Bareilles.  During my first listen through I was very unimpressed, because while everything sounded good nothing struck me as particularly interesting, with the exception of a couple songs using what sounds like a mandolin to provide the main instrumental line.  However during my second and third time listening through “Fools”, I found myself humming along to the more prominent melodies (I even woke up with the title track stuck in my head).  While this album may not be groundbreaking and new, I think Wild Child has a really strong grip on their sound.  They have catchy melodies and well put together instruments, throwing in different tempos and feelings in each song, and each song translates really well in its own way.  Definitely a more upbeat album, it is what I would consider to be a very universally friendly sound.
My only big complaint with this album is the use of two vocalists. I think both lead singers, Kelsey Wilson and Alexander Beggins, have wonderful voices but they only ever sing in unison.  While some songs that seems appropriate, it also really leaves me wanting more from the band, especially in tracks like “Meadows” where they could easily throw in some harmonies and make the chorus so much more powerful. The addition of good harmonies could really up the bands game and really make them stand out.
