Comeback Kid is a melodic hardcore band from Manitoba that is currently signed to Victory Records, who is home to many of the biggest names in the hardcore and punk scene today. They are currently touring the US with other hardcore bands Backtrack, Xibalba, Downpresser, and To the Wind. Die Knowing is the bands sixth album, and their first since 2010’s Symptoms and Cures.
This album is a whirlwind of melodic hardcore energy that combines many of the best parts of their last albums. It is often hard to do something new with a hardcore album, but this combines many different fields of hardcore into an incredibly heavy and strong effort. The album is very proficient technically, and has great transitions from New York styled hardcore, into a more metal influenced track, and then followed up later with a track that would seem to fit in better on a punk album. Each track brought a different influence and was blended into a very interesting album. The violently heavy breakdowns throughout were the constant that helped to tie it all together and were what made this album really stick out.
