With everyone awaiting for his new album, one-man band Beck released his newest masterpiece entitled “Colors”.

Beck has been around for a while…44 years old to be exact! His debut album in 1994, “Mellow Gold”, sold big with his hit track “Loser”. Since then, Beck has toured around the world and amazed thousands of fans. His last album in 2014, “Morning Phase”, was a crowd pleaser that lead him to two Grammys, including Album of the Year and Best Rock Album of the Year. In addition to his astounding solo performance, according to E! News, Beck plays more than 12 musical instrument, including sitar, banjo, and glockenspiel.

His new album, “Colors”, was released on October 13th 2017. For a very anticipated album, I was highly satisfied with his newest work. Beck has a broad spectrum of sound between each track, in addition to his original indie pop vibe. From other reviews online, some have described this album as “lost 80’s vibe” and “off-kilter pop craftsmanship”. His first track, “Colors”, is a great representation of this album, and I like that he put it first. It opens the door to the entire album, and introduces a fun and exciting sound for the rest of the tracks.

His seventh song, entitled “WOW”, is probably my favorite track. Though it is exceedingly experimental, I love the bubbly bass and white nose whistling throughout the song. I have asked many of my friends about it, and I was surprised…it’s not everyone’s favorite! It’s one of those songs that you either love it or hate it. I would recommend listening to it and see if you’re intrigued. I think you’ll like it!

Overall, I believe that “Colors” is one of Beck’s best works, and will be one of my favorites forever. He just has that, how do you say, “spunk and funk”, to himself that makes his performance fantastic. If you’re looking for a new, fun, and exciting sound to listen to, this album is definitely for you!
