Violent by We Are The City Review By: Jasmine Francois
Rating: 7.0/10
Upbeat indie-rock with a slight pop influence, this album is worth a listen. After a couple plays I could easily hum along and recognize the artist when shuffled in with other artists I was unfamiliar with. The melodies are catchy and the beats are good; even the songs I didn’t initially like have grown on me as I replay the album. The lyrics have heavy religious undertones (as expected from a Christian band), which might hit a nerve with some listeners, however, they are vague enough that if you are just casually listening you probably wouldn’t even notice they’re basically singing short prayers.
