“haha and then what ;)” has to be among the top funniest album names I’ve encountered, and it is the masterful work of “Jawbreaker Reunion”, a “post-grad” punk-rock band comprised of three intrepid girls from Annandale-On-Hudson, New York. This album has a unique sound and some pretty empowering break up songs, which is a nice change of pace from all the sappy ones that make you want to cry and eat ice cream. The honest lyrics tell of life’s trials and heartbreaks, but the instrumentals and vocals put out a feeling of true girl power. These women are fearless and independent, and they have made a really entertaining record. Every song pulls you in with the true emotion being displayed by their heavy music, which rather than weighing you down, has an uplifting effect. “haha and then what ;)” recharges the soul, it is a triumphant punk-rock record, with true garage band aesthetics. My favorite songs are definitely “Lakeland”, the unforgiving breakup track about finding your inner strength, and “Cosmos”, a track that goes from soft and sweet, to loud and cacophonous. Though Jawbreaker Reunion is made up of three hard-core ladies, “haha and then what ;)” is for everyone! So go ahead and give it a serious listen.
